Pineto

Seventh place in Group B of Serie C last season is where Pineto stand now. The team from the Teramo coast reached that division only in 2023, and it has stayed there since.

What got them up was a double. Pineto won Group F of Serie D, and on 28 May 2023 they beat Giana Erminio 4–2 in the final of the Coppa Italia Serie D — the first time a side from Abruzzo had taken that cup. Daniele Amaolo was the coach through both. Giuseppe Maio scored in the final.

Promotion left the club with a problem at home. The Stadio Mariani-Pavone, built in 1973 and named after two young local players who died in the mid-1990s, needed floodlights, dressing rooms and safety work to meet Lega Pro standards. There is no running track around the pitch; the away support sits in an open section along the touchline.

The club that owns all this began on 1 October 1962, when Tonino Merletti and a group of townspeople founded Associazione Sportiva Pineto. The legal shell changed as the football did: an amateur association in 2007, a limited company in 2023.

Pescara remain the fixture that draws the crowds, the derby d'Abruzzo. Chieti is the other one.
