Ried II

The clearest mark Junge Wikinger Ried left on Austrian football came during the years it played as a Spielgemeinschaft with SV Neuhofen. In the 2008/09 season, under the name SG Ried/Riedau, the side won the Oberösterreichischer Landes-Cup, a result that carried it into the second round of the Austrian Cup. The following two seasons brought promotion twice in succession: the Bezirksliga Süd/West title in 2007/08, then the Landesliga Oberösterreich title in 2009/10, moving the club up through the fifth and fourth tiers of the Austrian pyramid inside three years.

That partnership with Neuhofen ran from 2005 to 2017, the two clubs fielding one team under shared names — first SG Ried/Riedau, later SG mit Neuhofen im Innkreis — rather than as rivals; there was no derby between them, only one shirt. The arrangement ended in 2017/18, when the side reverted to representing SV Ried alone and took the name it carries now, Junge Wikinger Ried.

The club is SV Ried's reserve side, and its own founding date, 5 May 1912, is the date SV Ried itself was founded — the second team grew out of the parent club's structure rather than being set up apart from it. It plays its home matches at SV Ried's own ground, the BWT X Oberösterreichische Arena, which holds 7,336. Its colours follow the first team's as well: black and green stripes at home, yellow away.

In 2018/19, Junge Wikinger Ried finished second in the Regionalliga Mitte, then took the promotion place after the champions, ASKÖ Oedt, turned it down. The club moved between regional leagues again in 2024/25, shifting from the Regionalliga Nord into the Regionalliga Mitte as part of a wider reorganisation of Austria's league system. As a reserve side it does not enter the Austrian Cup. The closest thing it has to a rivalry is local rather than institutional: matches against Union Gurten, also from the Ried im Innkreis district, are known among supporters as the Rieder Unterhaus-Derby.
