Shumbrat

Dmitry Chernukhin took over as head coach at the start of 2026.

Shumbrat was founded in the spring of 2024 with backing from the regional authorities, a direct response to the disappearance of FC Mordovia. In its first season the club entered the amateur championship run by the MOO FS "Privolzhye" and won it, then reached the final stage of Russia's Third League, where it lost every group match. In 2025 the league title came again, this time by 10 points, with another run to the semi-finals of the regional cup.

The professional licence arrived in February 2026, clearing Shumbrat for the Second League B, the third tier of Russian football, where the club sits third in Group 3 early in the season. Radik Yusupov has led the line as well as the dressing room, scoring five goals so far in 2026.

The clearest sign of how far the club has come came on 12 August 2026, in the Path of Regions stage of the Russian Cup. Shumbrat hosted the media team 2DROTS not at its regular ground, the Start stadium, but at the 44,119-seat Mordovia Arena. The match finished 1-1, and 2DROTS won it on penalties. Home games otherwise stay at Start, which holds 11,613.

What Shumbrat has not built yet is a nickname. Supporters still just say the name.
