Paweł Kryszałowicz came out of the steelworkers' club in Stalowa Wola and went on to the 2002 World Cup with Poland. The forward is one of a handful of internationals the club has sent out; Préjuce Nakoulma later played for Burkina Faso.

That ended in 2010, when the club was reorganised as a joint-stock company.

The high point came in 1990/91, when Stal won the second tier.

Green and black are the colours, and the supporters use them as the name — zielono-czarni. The club itself answers to Stalówka.

Maciej Nalepa kept goal here before playing for Poland, and Waldemar Adamczyk did the same as a forward, but it is Kryszałowicz whose name still travels furthest beyond the town.
