In December 2024 the reserve side won a National 3 fixture 1-0 against Metz II, and the regional press covered it as a derby.
The team has no separate legal existence. It is a limb of Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace, and its founding is dated to 1906 — reserve sides grew alongside the academy and were rarely registered as anything in their own right.
Strasbourg II played in CFA2 across 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18; the 2017 restructuring abolished that tier and the side carried on in National 3 under the new name, then returned to it in 2021/22. Groupe I in 2024/25, Groupe F in 2025/26 — and by May 2026 the team sat twelfth in the group, having won 7 of 26 matches with a goal difference of -20.
Metz II remains the fixture that draws attention from outside the division.
