Two goals inside eleven minutes against Nigeria settled qualification for the 2017 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, and both of them belonged to Halid Abdamuleem, whose brace put Sudan through while Amghd Ahmed added a third to the campaign. Abdamuleem went on to play for the senior national side.

The team traces back to 1982 and took the field for the first time the following year, at the African Youth Championship, the competition now known as the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. It has never gone past the group stage there, managing only that far in 1997 and again in 2017.

What silverware exists has come from CECAFA, the regional body covering East and Central Africa, where Sudan took bronze in the U-20 Championship in 2019 and repeated the finish in 2022.

Sudan U20 shares its nickname, Falcons of Jediane, with the senior team, and its red and white kit with the same source: the national flag and the Arab Liberation colours. Home games are played across Khartoum, chiefly at Khartoum Stadium, though Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman and Kober Stadium in Bahri have also hosted the side.
