Suzhou Dongwu

Football in Suzhou had no professional side of its own when a group of local backers set one up in May 2008 under the name Suzhou Jinfu. For its first years the club lived in the amateur game, where it won the China Amateur Football League in 2012 and again in 2015 — the second title arriving in the same year the name changed to Suzhou Dongwu.

Those amateur seasons were the route out. Promotion to China League Two followed in 2016, and the climb into China League One came in 2020, when Sichuan Longfor broke up and the place was reallocated. Dongwu have stayed in the second tier since, with 8th place in 2023 their best finish.

The shirt changed with the status. Yellow and black carried the club through the amateur years and the first seasons in the professional pyramid; from 2018 the home strip has been red and black in vertical stripes, with the old yellow kept for away days.

The Cup has been an annual fixture rather than a route to anything — Dongwu have entered the CFA Cup since 2012 without lifting it.

Home is the Suzhou Sports Centre Stadium, a 35,000-seat ground in a city. The club runs no website of its own; supporters follow it on Weibo and through the league's own pages, which is where team news tends to surface first.
