Tolka Rovers

Tolka Rovers have lifted the FAI Junior Cup twice, in 1972–73 and again in 1988–89, either side of two runner-up finishes in 1969–70 and 1973–74 that came before the breakthrough finally arrived. The FAI Youth Cup followed the same pattern of patience: won in 1986–87 and once more in 2002–03.

Kenny Cunningham left Glasnevin to win 72 caps for the Republic of Ireland and later captained the national side. Keith O'Neill went on to Norwich City and 13 caps of his own, while Robbie Hedderman was sold to Aberdeen for €100,000 before returning to Irish football to run Shamrock Rovers as chief executive.

Tolka Rovers now play in the Leinster Senior League out of Frank Cooke Park, in red shirts with white sleeves that occasionally earn the side an unofficial "Reds" tag from match reporters — the club has never adopted a nickname of its own. The rivalry with Home Farm carries the sharpest edge among the north Dublin sides, though nobody has ever put a formal name to it.

What holds all of this together is a club that has been part of Glasnevin since 1922, one of the older football addresses in the city.
