Torpedo Kutaisi II

Torpedo Kutaisi II serves as the nursery for the senior side, playing in Liga 4, Georgia's fourth tier, and turning out each season in the David Kipiani Cup alongside the country's other reserve and lower-league clubs. Results at that level have stayed modest: the team dropped down a division in both 2021 and 2022, and went out of the cup early in 2017, 2018 and again this year.

One source gives the reserve side's founding year as 1993, nearly fifty years after the senior Torpedo was formed in Kutaisi in 1946; no other record confirms the later date. The team plays in what the club calls its traditional colours, black and white, and shares both its ground, the Shengelia Arena on Herman Gmeiner Street, and its website, torpedo.ge, with the senior team. Rebuilt to UEFA standards in 2023, the stadium is listed at 10,700 by the club itself; older figures, some as high as 19,400, appear to predate the renovation.

Its clearest export is Malkhaz Asatiani, who began in the reserve side before signing his first professional contract under coach David Kipiani — one of several players over the years to move on from Torpedo's reserve ranks into senior football.
