«Torulspor»

Torul sits in Gümüşhane Province, a district known historically for its mines, and the town's football side carries the municipality's name in its own: Torul Belediye Gençlik Spor, known around the ground simply as Torulspor. Founded in 1941, the club spent decades in the provincial system before finding its best run in the late 2010s.

That run came in the Gümüşhane 1. Amatör Lig, which Torulspor won in 2017–18 and again the following season, the second title carrying them up into the Bölgesel Amatör Lig, the fourth tier and the top level open to amateur clubs in Turkey.

The step up proved difficult. In the 2019–20 Bölgesel Amatör Lig, playing in a group shuffled between designations from one season to the next, Torulspor finished 13th and scored fewer goals than any other side in the group, ten in total. The club has also taken part in the Türkiye Kupası, the national cup that gives lower-league sides a rare fixture against opposition from outside their own region.

Matches are played at Torul İlçe Stadı, which holds 1,000 spectators, in keeping with a club whose support is drawn from the district rather than the city. Torulspor's task now is the one familiar to sides freshly promoted into regional amateur football: holding a place in the Bölgesel Amatör Lig against clubs with deeper benches, rather than fighting to leave it again straight away.
