Trenčín Women sit eighth in the I. liga žien table this season, holding a place in Slovakia's top division they have occupied since 2019, when a play-off win over Union Nové Zámky and FK Poprad finally settled a question the club had asked twice before and lost — in 2016 and 2018, promotion had slipped away in the same barrage. Pavol Straka now runs the side that plays its home matches at Štadión na Sihoti, a ground with room for around 4,300 that the women's team shares, in name and badge, with the men of AS Trenčín next door.

The best league finish on record is sixth, from the 2022/23 season, and the closest the club has come to a trophy is a semi-final in the Slovak Cup in 2024/25. What Trenčín Women have produced more reliably is players: Natália Masárová and Sára Straková both came through the club's own academy and went on to represent Slovakia at under-19 level, forwards raised inside the same setup that still supplies the first team.

Geography does the rest of the storytelling. Trnava lies some 30 kilometres away, and matches against Spartak Trnava carry the weight of that closeness the way local derbies do, even without a name of their own for the women's fixture — in the men's game the same rivalry is known as the Trnava derby. Trenčín Women's regular opponents beyond that include Ružomberok, Žilina and Petržalka, but it is the short trip to Trnava that sharpens a Sunday afternoon.

The club itself dates to 2014, set up as the women's branch of an association whose men's side had already been playing under the Trenčín name since 1992.
