Štadión na Sihoti

The most striking thing about the ground on Mládežnícka Street is how little of the original 1960 stadium survives in what a visitor sees today. Between 2017 and 2021, AS Trenčín's home went from a bare 4,500-seat bowl to an enclosed, all-covered arena for €20 million — the kind of rebuild that usually comes with a major tournament attached, though here it was simply a club deciding its old ground had run its course.

The pitch tells its own story of trial and reversal. Artificial turf went down in the mid-2000s and stayed for nineteen years, an unusually long stretch for a top-flight Slovak club, before natural grass returned in September 2024. Capacity now sits at 6,366, modest by continental standards but a clear step up from what the old open stands could hold.

The name has stayed simpler than the ground itself. Štadión na Sihoti — literally the stadium on Sihoť, the district that gives it its identity — was formally in use from 1960 right through the reconstruction, and the club's official name for it remains tied to that same patch of the city rather than to any sponsor.
