The best finish in the club's short history came in the 2021/22 season: second place in the West zone of the FNL-2, an improvement on the bronze the club had taken in the same zone the year before. Since then the table has told a different story — Tver has settled into the lower half of the Second League from 2022 through 2026, a run that included a 0:2 defeat to Dynamo Vologda in the Russian Cup on 13 August 2026.

The team plays in blue at home and white away, out of Yunost stadium on Vokzalnaya Street, a ground that holds 600 people. In March 2022 the club announced it would go back to its old name, Volga — yet the change never took hold: the tournament tables since 2024 and the club's own website still list it as Tver.

That naming question traces back to how the club began. Volga, the Tver club founded in 1957, was dissolved in 2017. Three years passed before a new legal entity took its place, registered on 9 April 2020, and the name it carries now was settled not in a boardroom but by a public vote online. Licensing with the Russian Football Union followed on 16 June 2020, and the club stepped onto the pitch carrying little more than the city's name and a fresh start.
