Dinamo Vologda

The Dinamo ground in Vologda has worked at half capacity since 2009, when engineers closed the East Stand over its structural condition, leaving matches to be watched from the West Stand alone — 2,490 seats out of a nominal 8,900. Reconstruction began in 2025, with the East Stand due back in autumn 2026 at a reduced 5,102 seats.

Founded in 1926, the club has spent much of the last two decades rebuilding rather than competing. It lost professional status in 2012, withdrew from amateur competition altogether in 2015, and was revived in 2016 around the city's own football academy. The historic Dinamo name returned in 2021, and by 2022 the club had its licence back from the Russian Football Union, restoring it to professional football in the Second League.

White and blue remain the club's colours; black, worn for a period, was dropped in 2021 in favour of the older Dinamo scheme.

Alexander Borodyuk, later an Olympic champion with the Soviet team in 1988, started out at Vologda's Dinamo as a boy in 1980 and 1981. Sergei Kiselnikov and Sergei Moiseev also passed through the club on their way to careers elsewhere.

The closest rivalry belongs to FC Cherepovets, and games between the two are known locally as the regional derby.

The honours board stops short of a professional title. The club won its zone in Russia's amateur championship in 2020 and 2021, and the amateur cup that followed, but at professional level it has three times finished runner-up and no better — in the Soviet second league in 1988, in the Second Division West zone across 2000, 2003 and 2005, and again in the Second League in 2025.
