«Horang-i»
In 2024 the club added the AFC Champions League Elite, a dozen years after its first continental title in 2012.
The team traces back to Hyundai Horang-i, which is where the nickname still comes from — Horang-i, the Tiger. Blue and yellow have carried it since.
Hong Myung-bo, who captained South Korea at a World Cup, came through the same shirt.
The Donghaean Derby against Pohang Steelers is the older rivalry, tied to the industrial cities of the southeast; the meetings with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors carry their own weight, two clubs sharing a parent company and rarely sharing the top of the table gracefully. Neither fixture has much love in it, and both have shaped how Ulsan measures itself.
