Yangpyeong
Club · South Korea · FA Cup
In 2022 Yangpyeong finished second in the K4 League, and that placing was enough to lift them into the K3 League for 2023. It was the second time the club had ended a season as runners-up.
The club started in 2016 in a county in Gyeonggi Province, and it entered the amateur K3 League in its first year. It has not won a league or cup title since.
The Korean FA Cup has shown how far the club can go against sides from higher divisions. Yangpyeong reached the third round in 2019, the same year as the league runners-up finish. In 2021 and again in 2022 they went out in the second round.
The 2019 side produced a player who moved on. Yoo Dong-kyu played for Yangpyeong that year and then joined Incheon United, later playing for Asan Mugunghwa. Kim Dae-hyeop is the name tied to the club's own beginning: a founding member, he later played for Gimpo FC in the K League 2. Their colours are blue and orange, and home games are at the Mulmalgeun Yangpyeong Stadium.
What Yangpyeong lacks is a title.
