Sokol ZVIL Uničov, named for a factory that carried Lenin's name, gave way within a year to DSO Spartak Uničov, then to TJ Uničovské strojírny Uničov, then to SK UNEX Uničov after 1994. Only in 2006 did the club settle on the name it carries now, SK Uničov.
The club itself traces back to 7 April 1935, when it took the field for the first time, against SK Litovel, playing under the banner of SK Union Uničov in blue and white.
Uničov has spent its football life in the lower tiers of the Czech pyramid, a fixture of the Moravian-Silesian Football League, the third tier, since the competition was founded in 1991/92. Earlier generations had already managed something similar one level down, taking the old Division D crown in 1970/71 and again in 1985/86.
Matches are still played at the Areál SK Uničov, a ground that holds 1,500.
