Valašské Meziříčí

In Valašské Meziříčí, football took shape long before the club had a name that stuck. What began in 1925 as S. K. Valašské Meziříčí was renamed T. J. Sokol Valašské Meziříčí in 1949, became Tatran Valašské Meziříčí in 1953, and in 1958 merged with local side Spartak Valašské Meziříčí — the name still worn today.

The team plays out of the Letní stadion on Žerotínova street, with 800 seats under a single covered stand and no room to stand.

Blue and white have carried through every renaming, the home kit built around blue with white stripes across the shoulders, the away kit turning to red. Unlike the town's ice hockey side, HC Bobři, known to everyone simply as the "Bobři," the footballers never settled on a nickname; locals and the local press call them Valmez.

Their old rival is FC Fastav Vsetín, close enough down the road that the fixture has its own name, the Valašské derby.

Martin Kotůlek, once a Czech international, took the bench in 2015 and within a year had the side promoted into the MSFL; Michal Hubník, another former international, followed him there for the 2017/18 season. That climb was built step by step through the regional tiers — the I. A třída of the Zlín region in 2006/07, the Přebor Zlínského kraje a year later, and Divize E in 2016/17, the title that finally opened the door to the MSFL.

The badge still reads TJ Valašské Meziříčí, the name settled by that 1958 merger, but the line runs back to the Sportovní klub first put together in the town in 1925.
