Unik Fk
Club · Sweden · Svenska Cupen
The club began at Södergård, in what was then the separate municipality of Uppsala-Näs, where a group of teenage boys formed it in 1947. It carried the name of that origin into its full title, Uppsala-Näs IK Fotbollsklubb, even after the move into central Uppsala in 1974 put it inside the city it had grown up next to.
Unik has never reached Allsvenskan or Superettan, and a claim of a Swedish championship that circulated online traces back to a template error rather than anything won on the pitch. What the club does have is a run through the lower leagues in the late 2000s: promotion from Division 6 to Division 5 in 2008, then to Division 4 a year later, followed in 2010 by the Uppland Division 4 championship and a further promotion to Division 3. It has stayed in the lower tiers since, currently playing in Division 4 Uppland.
Matches are played at Valsätra IP, redone in 2024 when the pitch went from grass to artificial turf and floodlights went up around a ground that holds 2,000. Red has been the club's colour on record for well over a decade, back to a Stockholm Football Association filing from 2011.
The club remains what it was when those teenagers at Södergård first put a team together: a local side built by and for the area it plays in.
