«Lilywhites»
The route to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Youth League in the 2024–25 edition began with a penalty shoot-out against Finland's FC Honka, and ended against AJ Auxerre. That run, and the BOV Youth League A title that followed in 2025–26, marked the clearest return yet on a project that goes back further than either result.
Valletta's youth nursery was set up in 1985 by Vincent Borg, and was rebuilt in 2016 into the club's Youth Development Sector. The U19s inherited the parent club's colours, white and red, and the nickname Lilywhites, along with its ground: the Centenary Stadium in Ta' Qali, 3,000 capacity.
Gilbert Agius carried that path from the academy into the first team and into the club's own list of names worth remembering; Luke Montebello and Rowen Muscat came through the same sector.
