West Georgia
Club · Georgia · David Kipiani Cup
Batumi sits on Georgia's Black Sea coast, a resort city of hotels and casinos where football has long lived in the shadow of Dinamo Batumi. West Georgia arrived there in 2024, not as a club chasing history but as a football school that grew a professional team on top of itself.
The climb has been fast. In 2025 the side entered Regionuli Liga C, the fifth tier, and went through it without losing a match — 28 wins from 30 games — earning promotion to Liga 4, where it now plays. Zurab Beridze, son of club chairman Dursun Beridze, is part of that squad, alongside captain Giorgi Kutelia, a midfielder born in 1997.
In the David Kipiani Cup this year, West Georgia beat Samgurali-2 and Dinamo Batumi-2 before running into Shturmi in the second round and going out 0-2. No silverware yet — the club is too young for that, and it shows more in ambition than in trophies.
The move up a division came with a new home. Through the unbeaten 2025 campaign the team played at the Leonidze football ground; for the Liga 4 season it switched to Chele Arena, a stadium built for 6,000 spectators.
