Yangsan United still answers, in the fifth tier of South Korean football, to the habit of winning that took hold at the club three years running: the K5 League Busan/Gyeongnam regional title in 2023, 2024 and 2025. A club that had spent most of its life under a different name, Yangsan Eogok, only became Yangsan United in 2025 — the same year it took the third of those titles, as if the new name arrived once there was something worth carrying it.
The club has been playing since 1987, long enough that the regional championship run counts as an unusually concentrated stretch of success rather than a one-off. Cup football has its own rules, and Yangsan United have tested them too, taking part in the Korean FA Cup and meeting Anseong there in one of their recent outings, without troubling the trophy itself.
Yangsan Stadium, opened in 2002, holds the team's home games; capacity is put at anywhere from roughly 22,000 to 30,000 depending on who is counting, a gap wide enough that neither figure is worth trusting on its own. The city behind the club carries its own weight of history — some Korean accounts trace Yangsan's roots back through the ancient kingdom of Gojoseon — and a team built on regional bragging rights fits comfortably into a place that measures itself in centuries rather than seasons.
None of that changes what people who follow the K5 League in Gyeongnam actually talk about: a club that turned up and took the regional title three times in a row.
