The ground was drawn up for as many as 40,000. The record for a match is 31,810, against Häcken on 4 November 2018.
For concerts the figure runs to 45,000, and the largest crowd the arena has taken was not there for football: 40,899 for Ant Wan on 12 October 2024. Iron Maiden in June 2018 and Avicii in March 2014 each drew about 40,000; Madonna's night in November 2015 and The Rolling Stones in July 2014 sat just below. Paul McCartney, Adele, Rihanna and Swedish House Mafia have all played the bowl.
Other sports pass through. The Swedish bandy finals were held here in 2015 and 2016, a UFC card followed in January 2015, and the ground staged matches at the 2023 world handball championship.
The city of Stockholm commissioned the arena through SGA Fastigheter, with Peab building it from September 2010 and White Arkitekter, Arup and Rossetti Architects on the design. It opened as Tele2 Arena, and carried the name until 1 January 2025, when a deal with the operator Tre made it 3Arena.
