UAE Football Association Headquarters (Al-Khawaneej)
Theyab Awana Stadium took its title in 2011, the year the Emirati international died in September; the pitch inside the UAE Football Association headquarters has been known by his name ever since, though paperwork and match reports also reach for Theyab Awana Ground or UAEFA Stadium.
It is the home ground of the United Arab Emirates women's national team, and between their fixtures it works as a training base for the men's senior side, the Olympic team and the youth sides. Nothing in its record includes a domestic league final, a domestic cup final or a continental club final — that was never the job.
Earlier neutral bookings had followed the same logic: Jordan met Georgia here in January 2017.
The setting is Wadi Al Amardi, in the Al Khawaneej district, out along Al Khawaneej Street with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre close by — the edge of Dubai rather than its centre, which is part of why the ground reads as a workplace first and a venue second.
