Al Nahyan Stadium
The stadium in the E19 district still carries the name of its neighbourhood club on its gates, even though the plaque above the entrance reads Al Nahyan, after the ruling family. Al Wahda Stadium is what most people in Abu Dhabi call it, and the ground has served as home to Al Wahda since it opened, which explains why the older name never quite left circulation despite the official one.
Opened in 1995, the ground sits on Al Wahdah Street, tucked into a district some locals still refer to by the older name Delma Street. Natural grass covers the pitch, laid out to the standard 105 by 68 metres.
What sets it apart from Abu Dhabi's other venues is less about size than continuity: this is a stadium that has belonged to one club and one neighbourhood since the mid-1990s. The dual naming, official versus local, has become part of how the ground is known rather than a source of confusion, with directions and match-day chatter alike defaulting to Al Wahda.
