Aquinas College

The synthetic pitch at Aquinas College Athletic Field arrived in 2007.

The switch turned a field that had to be rationed into one that could be used, in conditions that would have left a grass pitch cut up and unplayable.

The ground sits on Robinson Road SE, on the campus itself rather than out on the edge of town, which keeps it within walking distance of the buildings the players come from. Indoors, the college has the Sturrus Sports & Fitness Center, which opened in 1969 as the Physical Education and Assembly Building and was rebuilt and renamed in 2010. It is a separate facility, and the outdoor field's own beginnings are not recorded — the turf, not the ground beneath it, is where the documented history starts.
