Arena MRV

Arena MRV belongs outright to Atlético Mineiro, and the bill for that ownership shows in the numbers: construction plus the infrastructure obligations tied to the project ran past a billion reais, a load few Brazilian clubs carry without a city hall picking up part of the tab. The ground sits in the Califórnia district on the northwestern edge of Belo Horizonte, and before the naming-rights deal with MRV Engenharia settled its current title, people around the club simply called it Arena do Galo, borrowing the nickname Atlético Mineiro already carried.

The pitch itself has already changed once. Natural grass covered the field through the stadium's first two seasons, then in May 2025 gave way to a synthetic surface, a switch made so the ground could stay standardised for matches while hosting the concerts it increasingly books. Paul McCartney played there within months of the opening, and Jorge & Mateus followed in 2025, with Foo Fighters among the acts still to come.

The record crowd tells a harder story than most attendance figures do: 44,876 people packed the arena for the second leg of the 2024 Copa do Brasil final, and it was Flamengo who got over the line, beating Atlético Mineiro in front of its own supporters. The Minas Gerais state final against Cruzeiro that same year finished level. A Brazil national team fixture has yet to be played here.
