Augustinho Lima
Sobradinho, Brazil
The Estádio Augustinho Lima sits quietly in Sobradinho, a satellite city of the Federal District, away from the roar of the capital. The 10,000 capacity is modest, but the presence of the athletics track creates a distinct separation between the pitch and the stands.
There is a history here that predates the recent upgrades. The ground opened in 1978, with older records pointing to April rather than May. They found their rhythm in the late eighties, hosting a final in 1989 that was lost to Taguatinga, and playing a friendly against Swiss opposition in 1986 that they won.
The stadium has lived through changes. A significant renovation was completed recently, bringing a new World Athletics-certified track and a Bermuda grass surface to replace the worn layers beneath.
You see the track, then you see the game.
