Sobradinho U20

Sobradinho sits in the hills north of the federal capital, and the club that grew out of that town took its nickname from them — Leão da Serra, the lion of the hills — long enough ago that the black-and-white kit had already earned it a second, plainer name, Alvinegro.

It began as Campineira Futebol Clube, and under that name it won the Campeonato Brasiliense in 1975, the same year the club was founded. The name changed afterwards; the habit of winning came back in the mid-1980s, in 1985 and again in 1986, and then went away for a very long time.

What filled the gap were finals lost. Runners-up in 1984, in 1989, in 1994 — three near-misses spread across a decade and a half, with the second division waiting at the other end of the slide. Sobradinho won that division in 2003, climbed back, and only in 2018 took the state title again, thirty-two years after the last one.

The home ground is the Estádio Augustinho Pires de Lima, ten thousand capacity, which for the youth side means a stadium rather larger than the crowds that watch it. The senior team's fixtures against Gama are the ones the town marks on the calendar, a clássico rather than a derby with an agreed name; Samambaia and Brasiliense supply the other two.

The most recent chapter reads like the older ones. Sobradinho came back up as second-division champions in 2024, reached the state final in 2026, and lost it to Gama — a fourth defeat in a decider, and the first since 1994. The U20 side plays its part of the same competition, feeding a club that has never held the state title for two seasons running.
