Brasiliense U20 (Brazil) 2026/27

The Campeonato Brasiliense Sub-20 stands as the premier youth football championship for the Federal District of Brazil. Established in 1976 by the Federação de Futebol do Distrito Federal, it operates under several historical names, including the Campeonato Brasiliense de Juniores. The tournament serves as the primary development pathway for the region, offering a platform for young players to qualify for national competitions like the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior. The structure brings together a substantial number of clubs from the local area. Participants are split into two groups, playing a round-robin format before advancing to knockout play-offs. Unlike national leagues, there is no formal promotion or relegation within this specific age group. Entry is determined by registration with the state federation rather than performance in a lower youth tier. The competition remains a single open tournament for registered clubs, though the federation has discussed potential reforms including a second division. Historical dominance in the series belongs to Gama, who hold 12 titles in its history. Brasília follows with nine victories, while Brasiliense has secured seven. A notable period of success saw Brasiliense claim seven consecutive titles between 2003 and 2009. Recent winners include Real Brasília and Ceilândia. The event was significantly affected by the pandemic in 2020, when Planaltina was declared champion. The competition focuses exclusively on clubs from the Federal District, distinguishing it from broader national youth leagues by serving as a regional scouting platform for local talent.
