Santa Maria does not play in Santa Maria. Home matches in the Brasiliense go to the Estádio Walmir Campelo Bezerra in neighbouring Gama, known to everyone as the Bezerrão. The dark maroon shirts, worn with maroon shorts and socks, are close enough to black that the away kit — white throughout — is the one that reads clearly from the far side of the stand.

The under-20 side has been the part of the club with something to show recently. In 2021 it reached the final of the Federal District youth championship and lost it to Paranoá; in 2025 it went out at the semi-final stage. Twice inside five seasons the team has arrived at the last weekend of the competition, and twice it has been the other club lifting the trophy.

No graduate of that youth setup has yet made a name at the top level of Brazilian football, and the senior side has never played above the second division of its own state championship. For a club a quarter of a century old, both gaps are still open.
