Francisco da Silva, known as Seu Chicão, started a team called Dom Bosco Esporte Clube in Ceilândia, a satellite city of Brazil's Federal District. That was in 1963. The name Ceilândia Esporte Clube came on 25 August 1979, when the club was refounded to represent the city itself.

The players who made the name are easy to pick out. Cassius scored 101 goals, more than anyone else has for the club. In more recent years Gabriel Vidal scored the winner against Avaí in the 2022 Copa do Brasil, a goal still brought up when supporters talk about that competition.

The senior side won the Campeonato Brasiliense in 2010 and 2012. It won it again in 2024, beating Capital in the final. The under-20 side has its own line in the record. It won the Campeonato Brasiliense Sub-20, the Candanguinho, in 1987, then again in 2018 and 2022.

Home games are played at the Estádio Maria de Lourdes Abadia, known as the Abadião, which holds 5,000. Gama, Brasiliense and Ceilandense are the sides whose fixtures the club's followers look for first.

Everything above grew from what Seu Chicão began under the Dom Bosco name, before Ceilândia had a club that carried its own.
