The senior team finished runners-up in the Campeonato Brasiliense Série B in 2023; the junior side, playing under the same red and white, has twice taken the Campeonato Brasiliense U20 — in 1993, and again in 2020.

Those two dates sit twenty-seven years apart. Planaltina was founded on 30 May 1963 in a satellite region of the district, well outside the planned centre of Brasília, and its best years in the top flight were four fourth-place finishes across the 1990s. It never won the state championship for seniors.

What it did instead was find players. In the mid-1990s the coach José Vasco ran the youth categories at Planaltina and passed on to bigger clubs a midfielder called Sandro, who went from here to Gama and then to Internacional, and won the Copa Libertadores with them in 2010 before playing for Brazil. Vaná, later a goalkeeper at Porto, also came through the same setup.

Home is the Estádio Adonir José Guimarães, 12,000 capacity, shared by the senior and youth sides. The nickname is Galo, the Rooster — Galo do Planalto in full — and the mascot is exactly what that suggests.

The fixture that matters most is against Sobradinho. In the region it is simply Planaltina versus Sobradinho, and that is enough.
