Brasília was drawn on a blank plan before it was ever lived in, a capital built to house government rather than grow a football culture of its own, and the game there has had to earn its place in a city designed for other things. The Campeonato Brasiliense, the Federal District's own league, is where that case gets made every year, and Real Brasília's under-20 side has made it more often than most.

The club itself has changed its name twice since it first took shape. It started out in 1996 as Esporte Clube Dom Pedro II, became Real Futebol Clube in 2016, and took the name Real Brasília Futebol Clube in 2020 — the identity its academy sides now carry.

Of the two levels, the junior team has been the steadier winner. It took the Campeonato Brasiliense de Juniores Sub-20 in 2017, finished runner-up in 2019, then won it again in 2021 and once more in 2024. The senior side's own high point fell in between, in 2023, when it won the Campeonato Brasiliense Série A, adding to two second-division titles picked up earlier, in 2002 and 2016, back when the club still played as Dom Pedro II.

Matches are played at the Estádio Ciro Machado do Espírito Santo, a ground known around the city simply as Defelê, with room for 6,875. Blue and white are the club's colours, worn by whichever generation happens to be carrying the Sub-20 side's run of titles forward.
