Samambaia are back in Brasília's top flight for a third spell, part of the Federal District's elite since 2023. The club has never won the title itself — a fourth-place finish in 1994 remains its best result at that level — and its previous stay there, from 2015, ended in withdrawal rather than relegation.

Its honours sit one tier down. Samambaia won the Campeonato Brasiliense Segunda Divisão in 2014, 2020 and 2022, and were runners-up there in 2006 and 2017; the 2022 title was what sent them back up to the top flight the following year.

Founded on 29 January 1993 in Samambaia, one of Brasília's satellite cities, the club plays at the Estádio Joaquim Domingos Roriz, known locally as the Rorizão, which holds 6,000. Its shirts are white, green and yellow, with black introduced as an alternate colour in 2024.

Locally the club is known as Primo Pobre, the Poor Cousin — a nickname that places it among Brasília's satellite-city clubs without any pretence of ranking alongside the capital's grander sides.
