Brasiliense U20

The Serejão sits in Taguatinga with room for 27,000, and its second name tells you whose house it is: Boca do Jacaré. The senior side plays there and so, by the ordinary arrangement of Brazilian football, does the under-20 team — no separate ground, no separate registration, no founding date of its own. It belongs to Brasiliense Futebol Clube, which came into being on 1 August 2000 when the owners bought out the rights of a club called Atlântida.

What the youth team did next has no equal in the Federal District. Between 2003 and 2009 it won the Campeonato Brasiliense Sub-20 seven years running, the only club in the competition's history to manage it. Nobody else has come close to that stretch.

Then the titles stopped. The next one did not arrive until 2025, and the year before that the team reached the final and lost it to Real Brasília.

The senior club built its reputation by signing experienced professionals from elsewhere rather than promoting from within, which is part of why the under-20 side's list of graduates who went on to the first team is so thin. The yellow shirt with green and white — taken from the flag of the Federal District — is the same at both levels; the pathway between them is not.

January 2025 brought the 55th Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior. Brasiliense beat Água Santa 4-2, lost to CRB and Fluminense, and went out in the group stage. Six months later the state title came back to Taguatinga.
