Canaã EC U20

In 2019 the squad that took the field in the Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior wore another club's kit and answered to another club's name. Canaã was too young to enter under its own, so it went in as Jacobina EC under a partnership deal, with players drawn from the Nova Canaã social project that had produced them. The following year the name on the team sheet was finally its own.

That project came first and the club second — Nova Canaã, run with backing from the Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus, was the reason there were players to register at all when Canaã Esporte Clube was founded on 8 August 2018 in Irecê, in Bahia.

Money and distance moved it. In March 2023 the club filed with the Federação de Futebol do Distrito Federal, left Bahia altogether and debuted that year in the Distrito Federal second division. Home is the Estádio Municipal de Planaltina, an 8,000-capacity ground in Planaltina de Goiás, roughly 60 km outside Brasília and in a different state again, used through an agreement with the local council. Vento Forte do Cerrado, they call themselves.

The youth side is what the club is built around, and it has produced. Two players born in 2010, Ícaro Filipe and Ítalo de Souza, left the academy for Flamengo's in 2023.

In December 2025 the under-20s beat Brasiliense in the Copa Brasília Sub-20 final. Brasiliense is the established side in the federal capital.
