The Estádio Zequinha Roriz, also called Serra do Lago, holds 21,564. It stands in a Goiás town whose football answers to another state's authority. Luziânia lies in the metropolitan region around Brasília, so the club is affiliated to the Federal District federation and not to Goiás. The U20 side plays in the Campeonato Brasiliense U20.

Those two titles carry the weight. Luziânia was the first club from outside the Federal District to win the Campeonato Brasiliense, which the locals call the Candangão. Ceilândia met them in the finals of 2012 and 2016. The Taça JK had come in 2012, and the Copa do Planalto much earlier, in 1929 and 1962.

Gama is the rival that matters most. The two have been measuring themselves against each other since 1996, the year after the club took back its present name, Associação Atlética Luziânia. Brasiliense is also on the list.

The name changed more than once. Manoel Gonçalves da Cruz founded the club on 13 December 1926 as Associação Atlética Luziana, without the "i". The "i" arrived in 1945. In 1959 it became Luziânia Esporte Clube, and briefly Luziânia Futebol Clube in 1981. Sky blue and white gave way to black and white for that whole stretch. The nickname Azulão, "the Big Blue", outlasted the change of colours, and the crest still carries the town's Igreja Matriz, its Mother Church.

The black and white shirts were worn for 36 years, from 1959 to 1995.
