Ayg Stadium

A ground of 1,280 seats does not often turn up on a national cup semi-final teamsheet, but on 18 April 2007 Ayg Stadium in Ararat held one: FC Ararat Yerevan beat FC Pyunik 1–0 there, and a further semi-final between the same two clubs was scheduled for 2008.

The venue belongs to the Ayg sports complex, owned by the Ararat Town Council — a municipal ground rather than a club's. Its longest association is with Araks Ararat, which played here from 1992 to 2001, though the starting date is not consistent across records. After Araks, the pitch spent the early 2000s in a supporting role, used for training by several Yerevan clubs, before Impulse FC took it as a home ground for the 2012–13 Armenian Premier League season.

That top-division year is the clearest measure of the place. Crowds in 2012–13 were counted in the low hundreds — 100, 150, 200 — in a ground built for more than six times that. An all-seater arrangement and natural grass, in a town that is the administrative centre of Ararat Province, and a Premier League fixture list drawing fewer people than the stands would hold.

Ayg Stadium has no permanent primary tenant listed. It has not staged concerts or international finals; its record rests on domestic football, and chiefly on two cup ties.
