Behnam Mohammadi Stadium
Masjed Soleyman, Iran
The ground holds 8,000 spectators, though a local claim suggests the number might be 10,000. The figure remains uncertain. The surface is a hybrid mix of natural grass and artificial fibres, a choice made during a renovation in 2014 after the home side, Naft Masjed Soleyman, reached the Persian Gulf Pro League.
The venue carries a heavy weight of history. It was built in 1908 and opened two years later, designed by an architect named John Merdak. It stands as the first modern sports venue in Iran. The name honours Behnam Mohammadi, a boy who died in 1980 at the age of thirteen while helping to defend the city of Khorramshahr during the Iran-Iraq War. The club owns the ground.
The pitch is flat, but the surrounding terrain is uneven.
