Beit Maccabi
Rishon LeZion, Israel
Beit Maccabi sits on Golda Meir Street in Rishon LeZion, an arena that opened in 2008 to replace the older Gan Nahum Municipal Hall. The move was practical, a response to safety deficiencies that had plagued the previous facility. It is a working club venue with a capacity that settles around 2,500 seats.
The interior is a professional indoor court, standard for the Ligat HaAl. The building has seen little change since its inauguration.
It is distinct from the larger Beit Maccabi complex in Tel Aviv, existing as a local hub for both basketball and handball. Yet it is also a place where tensions flare; police confrontations involving visiting fans from Hapoel Tel Aviv broke out here in 2022.
