Maccabi Rishon LeZion

Guy Goodes wore the club's shirt as a player before returning to the bench between 2004 and 2006. The identity he inherited was already changing: for decades the team had played in blue and yellow, but in 2006 the colours switched to orange and white.

The club had been playing since 1976, first out of the small Gan Nahum Municipal Hall, which held 1,500 people. In 2008 it moved into Beit Maccabi on Golda Meir Street, a ground with room for around 2,500.

The one league title came in 2015–16, a season remembered locally for Darryl Monroe's Final Four MVP performance. Two years later the club added the Israeli Basketball League Cup. Further back, Miki Berkovich is still the name attached to the scoring column, having put up 1,974 points across five seasons in orange and white.

What the trophy cabinet does not have is a State Cup: Rishon LeZion reached that final three times, in 1991–92, 2011–12 and 2018–19, and lost all three, adding a further three defeats in league championship playoffs. In 2021 the club dropped out of the top flight altogether, relegated to the Liga Leumit.
