Bush Park

The dressing rooms at Bush Park sit below the level of the pitch. They went up in 1973, and the arrangement has stayed since: players climb up to the grass rather than walking out onto it.

The ground is tucked along Maes Yr Haf Lane, in Treowen — a village rather than a town in its own right, absorbed into Newbridge in the Caerphilly county borough. That matters for how the place reads. Supporters arrive through housing and stop at the gate.

Capacity is listed at 950, which is a figure worth taking at face value rather than rounding up: it is the number the ground holds, not the number it aspires to.

Treowen Stars have been the tenants throughout, the club dating to 1926 — nearly half a century of football here before the current dressing rooms existed. They now play in Cymru South, the third tier of the Welsh league system.

It has grown by addition, in the way village grounds do — one improvement at a time, decades apart, each one answering a problem the club actually had.
