Claro Arena

That first ground, designed by architect Esteban Barbieri and known then as Estadio San Carlos de Apoquindo, held around 14,000 and went through piecemeal upgrades over the decades — new seating and a scoreboard in 2012, then rebuilt west and east stands with a VIP area in 2014.

The project announced in 2020 kept the original lower tier standing and built an entirely new upper deck and a 360-degree concourse above it, under a roof framed in Chilean oak and pine and steel. Architects at IDOM, led by César Azcárate, added solar panels, a greywater system and artificial turf, and finished the work in 2025. The reopening on 23 August 2025 came with a new commercial name, Claro Arena, though around Las Condes the old San Carlos de Apoquindo tag has not gone anywhere.

Under either name, the ground has done more than host Católica's league games. Chile's national team played five 2022 World Cup qualifiers here, and in 1994 it staged the Copa Interamericana final, where Católica beat Costa Rica's Deportivo Saprissa 5-1 after extra time. The record for a football crowd, 20,936, dates to a 1992 derby against Cobreloa.

Music left its own mark. Roxette's 1992 show drew 45,000, still the largest crowd the venue has held, and the live version of "It Must Have Been Love" recorded that night made it onto their album Tourism. Luis Miguel came back five times between 1992 and 2003, and Pavarotti, Whitney Houston, Sting, Oasis and Pearl Jam all played the venue.
