CSR Orhei

The wooden stands came down in 2005. What reopened in 2007 was a different object altogether: a new structure on the same plot, on Strada Scrisului Latin, with room for 2,539 people.

That number is the point of the place. Milsami Orhei play their home matches inside a capacity smaller than the crowd many clubs draw to a training session. The complex is a district sports facility — Complexul Sportiv Raional Orhei is the full name — and it reads that way.

The original ground dates from 1980, and for twenty-five years it kept the timber terracing that the reconstruction removed. Nothing in the record names the architects or the firms who did either job, the 1980 build or the 2007 one, so the arena arrives without the usual attribution.

The pitch is natural grass. Milsami list the ground as their home.

What distinguishes CSR Orhei from the next small ground along is chiefly the interruption in the middle of its life.
