East Bengal Ground

The pitch at Maidan has answered to three different names since 1915. It opened as the National AC Ground, home to the National Association club. When that body folded in 1924, the police stepped in and ordered Mohun Bagan to share the ground with East Bengal, and the shared use gave the field its current name. Aryan FC joined the arrangement that same year, informally at first, and only became a settled tenant in 1963, once Mohun Bagan had moved off to a stadium of its own.

The pitch itself has been dug up and relaid more than once. A new stand went up in 1996, and the field was reoriented north-south in the same rebuild. A fuller renovation followed in 2016: the surface came out again, drainage was overhauled, red-and-gold seating went in for club members, and the commentary box was rebuilt. Floodlights arrived in 2018, and a VIP box named for Krishanu Dey was added in 2023.

For all that, East Bengal Ground is not where the club's biggest occasions happen. Derbies and Indian Super League fixtures move to Salt Lake Stadium, which is where the club's record crowd was set, not here. What Tent Maidan has instead is history without the numbers to match — a 1945 IFA Shield final on the ground's predecessor drew close to 30,000.
