East Bengal II

East Bengal II carries none of the weight of the derby against Mohun Bagan that defines the parent club.

The team's own competitive record only starts in 2022/23, when it entered the I-League 2nd Division, now I-League 2. Its first match there, on 4 April 2023 against Shillong Lajong, ended 0-1, and the side finished that debut season sixth. The more telling season came later, in the Calcutta Premier Division A, where in 2024 East Bengal II won the title with 34 points from a defence that conceded four goals all campaign, finishing ahead of Army XI. A year on, in the Sikkim Gold Cup, the same group went out in the quarter-final to Services, also by a single goal.

Bino George has been the figure most attached to the side, taking charge in 2022 and later stepping up to caretaker duties with the first team in 2024-25.

Nominally the side is based at East Bengal Ground, the club's old home with a capacity of 23,500, though Calcutta Premier Division A fixtures have also been played at the 85,000-capacity Salt Lake Stadium and at Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay Stadium in Barrackpore. There is no separate crest: the badge on the shirt, and the red, yellow and blue of it, belong to East Bengal FC, not to the reserves alone.

Four goals conceded in a league season is the number that stands out from a side otherwise defined by turnover.
