Eryaman Stadyumu
Eryaman is the second Ankara ground built for this specific purpose: MKE Ankaragücü and Gençlerbirliği, both squeezed out of the ageing 19 Mayıs, needed a home that met modern licensing rules, and Etimesgut district got the job. The stadium sits away from the historic centre, in the Eryaman neighbourhood that gives it its name — a district built up largely from the 1990s onward, with none of the older clubs' traditional roots nearby.
It opened on 28 January 2019, and did so with a fixture rather than a ceremony: Ankaragücü hosted Alanyaspor in the Süper Lig that day, so the ground's first competitive match doubled as its inauguration. Construction had started on 5 May 2016, meaning the build ran to just under three years — brisk by the standard of Turkish stadium projects of that period, several of which stalled for seasons at a time.
During planning it circulated under working names — Eryaman Stadı, 06 Arena — the kind of placeholder tags contractors and local press use before a naming sponsor or municipal decision fixes things permanently. None of them stuck; Eryaman Stadyumu is the only name it has carried since the doors opened, with no rebrand since.
Ground-sharing between two clubs from the same city is not unusual in Turkey, but it does mean neither Ankaragücü nor Gençlerbirliği get a stadium built solely around their own colours and history — a trade-off for leaving the old, cramped 19 Mayıs behind.
