Espenmoos
When the ground was rebuilt between 2008 and 2010, every other stand came down and an artificial pitch went up where they had been.
The stadium opened in 1910, and the first match, on 16 October 1910, was a local one: FC St. Gallen beat Brühl St. Gallen 1:0. St. Gallen stayed until 2008, and took the place's name with them — the club's supporters are still called the Espen , after the ground in the Heiligkreuz quarter rather than after anything the club did.
The record crowd came on 2 October 1985, a UEFA Cup tie against Internazionale of Milan. Temporary stands pushed the figure past 16,200.
Since the rebuild it has been a public sports facility. The dressing rooms are named for former St. Gallen players — Charles Amoah, Tranquillo Barnetta, Beat Rietmann, Hugo Rubio, Marco Tardelli, Jörg Stiel, Iván Zamorano, Marc Zellweger. FC St. Gallen II and the women's side play here; rugby, American football and works teams train on the site.
