In 2023 St. Gallen reached the final of the AXA Schweizer Cup and lost it to Servette FC Chênois Féminin, 0:1. Eva Bachmann finished that season as the side's leading scorer, after Ardita Iseni in 2020/21 and Valeria Iseli the year after.

Promotion in 2019 put the team into the Nationalliga A, since renamed the Women's Super League, and it has stayed there. The bigger change came in 2022, when the women's side stopped being FC St. Gallen-Staad and was folded into the men's club as FC St. Gallen 1879 — a merger of name, structure and honours date in one move.

It holds about 5,700, and it gave the club its nickname: the Espen, after the aspens the ground is named for, in green and white.

Céline Bradke, a defender here, went on to run the Host City St. Gallen project for the UEFA Women's Euro 2025.

The 1879 on the badge is not the women's team's own year. It belongs to the club founded in St. Gallen on 19 April 1879, and since 2022 the women's side has counted from it too.
